The manager coordinates and evaluates all aspects of the Gift Shop to provide exemplary service to patients/visitors/staff and generates revenue for WVU Medicine. The Manager assures that proper accounting of revenue and expenses is maintained. The Manger supervises and assures that all staff provides exemplary service to patients, visitors and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Two years of college level course work in Business Administration or merchandising or related field. EXPERIENCE: 1. Three years of experience in retail buying with one year experience in a management/supervisory role. 2. Two years of prior budget/accounting experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: EXPERIENCE: 1. Prior experience in buying retail merchandise & creating shop displays CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Plans, schedules, organizes and presents special events and promotions for marketing the Gift Shop. 2. Assists with preparing annual budget and accounting reports. 3. Responsible for the shop meeting sales and profit expectations. 4. Purchases variety of merchandise to ensure wide-range of selection, according to retail and seasonal trends, to assure turnover of merchandise, as monitored by inventory report and visual inspection. 5. Assures prompt check-in, pricing, and storage/stock of new merchandise. Maintains accurate and current vendor files, merchandise received records and invoice payments. 6. Leads and directs year end physical inventory. 7. Coordinates promotional and inventory reduction sales and in-house advertising to facilitate merchandising of inventory according to Gift Shop plan, gross revenue and inventory levels. 8. Responsible for staff evaluations, hire, discipline measures and performance review with the guidance of department Director.. 9. Assigns shop staff or volunteer functions, designates duties and assignments. 10. Assures that staff and/or volunteers are properly trained so that staff and/or volunteers can appropriately function in assigned roles. Monitored by competency evaluations and customer satisfaction. 11. Communicates effectively with Gift Shop staff and/or volunteers in problem identification and resolution in a timely manner. 12. Communicates potential problems in a timely manner; provides suggestions for problem resolution. 13. Directs, monitors the training and supervision of the Gift Shop staff and/or volunteers. Assures continuous personal and staff growth by attending workshops and conferences, giving in-services, etc. as needed. 14. Promotes and provides positive direction for the department by contributing ideas, solving problems and assisting staff and/or volunteers. 15. Formulates plans and implements change to maintain and improve productivity. 16. Using point of sale system, produces, inventory, profitability, and cost analysis reports. Must have manual dexterity to operate keyboards, fax machines, telephones, and other business equipment. 7. Ability to lift, push or pull 20-30 pounds. 8. Work requires color recognition for buying products and creating appealing displays. Ability to work with a volunteer staff. 3. A working knowledge of computers, Point of Sale Systems, social media, and online sales. 4. Experienced with QuickBooks, POS, Excell, Microsoft Office suite and E-commerce processing.
