Position Summary

The Principal Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing in-house information systems and networked software architectures that support core organizational functions. This role involves securing organizational commitment for systems and software plans, as well as evaluating and selecting the necessary technologies to execute these plans. Additionally, the Systems Engineer provides technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision-making to project planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering, a strong understanding of Windows environments, and the ability to lead technical projects and initiatives when required.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage robust Windows-based systems to support core organizational functions.
  • Develop Systems Architecture plans, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluate new and existing technologies against architectural standards and provide recommendations.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to protect systems and data from threats.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Optimize performance, availability, and security of Windows systems through monitoring and analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, serving as an escalation point for tier 3 personnel during system outages.
  • Provide architectural expertise and guidance to Systems Engineers, Software Development teams, and technical staff.
  • Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather system requirements, gain buy-in, and provide status updates
  • Provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, influencing strategic decision-making and project planning.
  • Identify opportunities for technical and procedural improvements to enhance efficiency.



Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Systems Engineering with a strong understanding of Windows environments.
  • Proven experience managing Microsoft Entra ID and M365 services, such as Exchange Online.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server features such as DNS, DHCP, and File Server.
  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory administration
  • Hands-on experience in scripting and automation through tools such as PowerShell.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Experience researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products.
  • Working knowledge of networking and cyber security principles.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.



Education, Experience & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Windows Systems Engineering and Administration
  • Microsoft certifications preferred.



Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $111,400 -172,300 Annualized

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
