About the Contract Role: We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Digital Accessibility Analyst to enhance the accessibility of UCSF's content and systems. In this role, you will be a key advocate for accessibility, ensuring our digital content, platforms, and tools are inclusive for users with disabilities, meeting WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards. Your work will play a critical role in making our digital content inclusive and accessible to all users.

  • Identify the difficulties and obstacles faced by individuals with disabilities (e.g., low vision, cognitive, mobile/touch) when interacting with UCSF websites, web applications, and online content.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to spot and remove accessibility obstacles in digital content and user interfaces.
  • Conduct tests on websites and web applications using various screen reader navigation methods, such as heading or landmark navigation, common user coping strategies, user-preferred methods compared to website-specific methods, and keyboard usage instead of a mouse.
  • Implement and evaluate tests for accessibility and usability.
  • Assess and advise on the accessibility of software, websites, video content, applications, and other information communication technologies (ICTs), and assist with vendor product reviews and end-user acceptance testing.
  • Suggest remediation solutions, such as adding keyboard support, compliant captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions to video content.
  • Carry out administrative tasks for the Site improve accessibility monitoring tool.
  • Review and modify UCSF digital accessibility website content, best practices, and resource links within a Content Management System (CMS).
  • Assist in planning and organizing monthly Digital Accessibility Advisory Committee meetings and learn to facilitate engagement for virtual meetings.
  • Assist with promoting, communicating, and supporting monthly Digital Accessibility engagement events for the UCSF and University of California community.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $145,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF is a leading institution dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care. It is the only campus in the 10-campus UC system dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. UCSF is technologically and organizationally complex, with both centralized and departmental IT units providing support for enterprise and specialized services. UCSF IT provides education, research, and health technology services, along with shared infrastructure, security, analytics, application, and customer support services, and is essential to the organization's ability to support growth, mitigate security risk, and manage, store, and share sensitive information. This position reports to the Digital Accessibility Program Manager and works along with the Web Services, Developer Experience, and Accessibility and Analytics teams. Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years of testing with assistive technologies (navigation of screen readers, headings and landmark navigation, screen magnifiers, high contrast, using keyboard vs. mouse).
  • 5+ years' experience in digital accessibility and usability testing for people with disabilities and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • 3+ years' experience creating and editing content in a Content Management System (CMS), like Drupal.
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions related to digital content delivery systems.
  • Strong skills and knowledge of testing methodologies associated with digital content and systems.
  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations, and narrative description.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds, including people with disabilities.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of digital accessibility testing and test planning, compliance, and remediation.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)- IAAP
  • Trusted Tester Certification from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
  • Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) - IAAP
  • 2+ years of event and meeting planning, promotion, and facilitation experience.
  • 3+ years of experience performing Accessibility Conformance Reports or evaluating Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs).
