The Opportunity

The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer in studio art, anticipated to begin August 8, 2025. This non-tenure track position carries a 4/4 teaching load and offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic faculty committed to fostering innovation, creativity, and academic excellence.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in immersive/experimental design, aligned with the candidate's area of expertise.

  • Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered teaching strategies, including both in-person and online or mixed-mode instruction.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.

  • Maintain active engagement with students through mentoring, advising, and fostering professional development.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and the broader university community to advance the mission of SVAD and UCF.

  • Participate in service to the department, college, and university, as well as in community outreach initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Nonterminal master's degree (e.g., M.A.) for instructor or terminal degree (e.g., MFA) for lecturer in art, architecture, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Evidence of a professional practice or research agenda in immersive/experimental design.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Professional experience in the arts/creative industry.

  • Experience working in interdisciplinary environments.

  • A record of innovative work in immersive experience design or related fields.

  • Industry experience that bridges academic and professional practice.

  • Specific expertise in AR/VR, interactive installations, mixed reality, world building, theme park design, place-making, architecture, engineering, gaming, animation, or experiential environments.
