Location

Novi, MI is preferable but the ability to work from any of our offices in MI, OH or IN.

Job Summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to support the development and administration of safety policies, programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives. Working in collaboration with the Health and Safety Manager, this position will help implement health and safety continuous improvement initiatives and work with stakeholders at all levels to reduce risk and promote a culture of safety. The specialist will assist in conducting comprehensive risk assessments, analyzing safety data, and implementing safety programs to ensure a safe and healthful environment for staff members, clients, and the communities we serve.

Primary Functions


  • Support and implement safety programs, providing necessary resources and training to appropriate positions
  • Monitor safety performance for assigned departments/equipment
  • Support and actively participate in safety committee meetings to address open items and safety concerns
  • Conduct field/office safety audits and program evaluations
  • Plan and facilitate safety meetings
  • Help develop and implement site-specific safety plans (assessing, writing, training, JSA/JHA)
  • Conduct jobsite meetings to instruct staff on hazards and safety procedures
  • Assist in developing and updating training programs
  • Support compliance with OSHA rules, regulations, and best practices
  • Monitor and verify incident and accident corrective actions
  • Maintain proper reporting procedures for internal requirements, regulatory bodies, and insurance programs
  • Participate in accident, injury, and near-miss investigations to help determine root causes
  • Deliver required training for new hires and existing staff
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Facilities, and firm leadership to implement EHS programs
  • Maintain EHS training records including first responders, electrical safety, WWS, lockout tagout, hazard communication, driver/vehicle safety, incident reporting and response, fire extinguishers, hand and power tools, PPE, etc.
  • Track and maintain HAZWOPER and Confined Space training records
  • Perform and document job site inspections/audits using approved checklists
  • Assist in determining appropriate levels and standards for company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Some travel required, including overnight stays, throughout the Midwest Region (MI, OH, IN)


Desired Education/Licensure

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or equivalent experience. Safety certification preferred (ASP, GSP, CHST).

Desired Skills/Experience


  • 5+ years of safety experience, with at least 2 years implementing structured safety programs. Experience in Engineering, Architectural, and Construction services industry, a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction-related OSHA, federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
  • Health and safety experience within diverse work environments.
  • Experience implementing change management initiatives.
  • Safety certification preferred (ASP, GSP, CHST).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong communication skills with ability to generate professional written material and deliver effective verbal presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting safety training and audits.


Minimum Physical Requirements
Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, walking, and maneuvering around off-site facilities. Will have normal office working conditions and be required to use a computer and phone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities.
