Job Description:

  • Sun Corridor Network (SCN), as Arizona’s Research and Education Network is among the fastest growing such organizations in the country. Formed as a collaboration between Arizona’s public universities our mission is to advance connectivity, research, and education at gigabit speeds for all Arizonans. The SCN is at the forefront of advancing innovative technologies to address the most pressing needs of educators, researchers, and society in Arizona. Among these challenges are digital inclusion, science instruction & engagement, research data transit, cloud computing, and regional scale innovation. Embedded within Arizona State University’s Enterprise Technology division we act in concert with the technology experts from all three state Universities.
  • The Sun Corridor Network seeks a versatile and experienced professional to complement our team and drive success. While not a requirement, we seek candidates that have prior telecommunications/network/network service delivery project management experience. The ideal candidate will bring experience, leadership, curiosity, organizational finesse, and willingness to instill project management maturity, structure, and processes. Plans organizes, directs, and supervises overall management of multiple complex telecommunication and network infrastructure projects to ensure thorough articulation of project scope and control of expectations, deliverables, outcomes, issues, needs, and constraints involved to achieve optimal community stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Additionally, this position is funded in whole or part by sources other than general operating appropriation and may terminate when funding is no longer available.
  • As with everyone on the ET team, this role has core responsibilities that include an intentional focus on inclusion and belonging, culture, and communications. With an increased emphasis on authenticity and compassion, this position strives to embody and advance our culture.

 

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000; per year Depends on Experience

 

Essential Duties:

  • Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large-scale projects through complete task definition and work requirement identification and mapping.
  • Oversees managers working on engagements within practice.
  • Reviews high-level deliverables across projects for adherence to budget, time and resource requirements; identifies out of scope and/or other obstacles to successful achievement of objective(s).
  • Implements engagement review and quality assurance procedures in accordance with established methodology to ensure profitable and successful execution of engagements as measured by goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Minimizes exposure and risk across multiple projects.
  • Manages scope and mitigates risk across projects.
  • Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for all projects under his/her direction.
  • Integrates financial data for multiple projects.
  • Participates in vendor identification, selection and contract negotiation.
  • Manages to and achieves goals set for projects.
  • Serves as key participant in team and functional meetings.
  • Recommends strategies and develops technical specifications for large technical projects; coordinates all aspects of planning, production, implementation and evaluation of complex technology development efforts.
  • Reviews the status reports of team members across projects and addresses issues as appropriate.
  • Confronts issues openly and quickly; utilizes tactful communication of sensitive information.
  • Mentors managers through formal channels; assesses training needs and selects training tools for team members.
  • Manages the development of project teams by ensuring that project tasks are in line with each Innovator's career interests; determines appropriate human resource skill mix requirement for optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manages day-to-day interaction and expectations for multiple or large-scale projects.
  • Anticipates needs and proposes alternative business solutions.
  • Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen relationships.

  • Strong knowledge of Project Management principles, practices and techniques needed in support of large complex initiatives.
  • Knowledge of business, organization and objectives.
  • Knowledge of computer security and identity management issues.
  • Knowledge of industry standard and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of change management principles and practices to identify opportunities for change and the ability to convey the need for change.
  • Skill in effectively communicating relevant project/practice information to superiors and peers in other practices.
  • Skill in challenging others to develop as leaders while clarifying roles and responsibilities.
  • Skill in evoking creative and innovative thinking from team members while helping them to bring their ideas and career plans to fruition.
  • Skill in easily recognizing areas for internal improvement and develops plans for implementation.
  • Skill in lending expertise to internal teams and task forces.
  • Complies with and enforces standard policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assess the effective usage of a wide variety of database and development technologies.
  • Ability to handle difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual.

 

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
