Job Description Summary The Access System Administrator provides daily administration to improve the functionality and compatibility of the Reynolda Campus physical security technology and best safeguard the people, assets, and information at Wake Forest University (WFU). The Administrator works closely with other professionals in the department in the administration of all university technology including, but not limited to card readers, cameras, video recording data, License Plate Recognition system, alarm devices, and infrastructure serving over 12,000 cardholders including residential, commuting, and graduate students, faculty, staff, vendors, off-campus businesses, and temporary access holders.
Job Description Essential Functions:
Acts as a contact for on and off campus constituencies for the card access system infrastructure including, but not limited to, network and server administration, database maintenance and management, mechanical and electrical repairs. Oversees daily customer service for the Deacon One operations including, but not limited to, configurations, programming, schedules for locks and unlocks and reviewing daily transaction logs, as well card making, programming cards for access, ordering supplies, preparing and evaluating reports and summaries. Assists graduate assistants who provide customer service in the Deacon One office for card operations. Works closely with Facilities and Campus Services, Telecommunications, Information Systems, University Police and subcontract personnel regarding proper system operations in the installation, repair and appropriate chargebacks of the card access system. Assists in equipment installation for any and all ID card processes; including, but not limited to, doors, alarm devices, cameras, printers, and system workstations. Assists Facilities and Campus Services in identifying specifics and scope of work for on and off campus capital and non-capital projects. Assists with the Facilities divisions of Project Management, Maintenance, Locksmith, and EHS; specifies appropriate hardware, and provides technical support. Provides primary on-site technical support. Responds to call-ins for the Deacon One System. Acts as access system on-call person for problems with access software and hardware. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs existing hardware (including, but not limited to, computers, printers, , controller panels, networking, server, alarm doors and wiring) and technical problems. Performs hardware/software inspections. Works with Facilities and Campus Services, Athletics, and WFU Properties maintenance divisions to troubleshoot problems; follows up to ensure issues are resolved; troubleshoots card access system as tied into residence halls and other locations; acts as liaison between Deacon One Office and Facilities and Campus Services in the repair of equipment throughout campus. Assists in the development of budgetary needs for infrastructure and operations of the Deacon One System. Develops both strategic and long-range plans for the card access and ID card systems on campus, including, but not limited to, card design and establishing usage. Maintains and manages databases including uploads, modifications, additions, deletions and back-ups. Attends departmental and University meetings/functions as required. Serves on a variety of committees, projects and programs within the University community. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Functions:

Provides daily customer service for the Deacon One operations including, but not limited to, configurations, programming, schedules for locks and unlocks and reviewing daily transaction logs, as well as card making, and authorizing cards for access. Monitors proper system operations in the installation, repair and appropriate chargebacks of the card access system while working closely with Facilities and Campus Services, Telecommunications, Information Systems, University Police, and subcontract personnel. Administers equipment installation for all ID card processes including, but not limited to, doors, alarm devices, cameras, printers, and system workstations. Serves as on-call person on rotational basis and administers primary on-site technical support through the contracted service vendor for access software, hardware, and CCTV systems. Monitors and facilitates maintenance and repairs of existing hardware (including, but not limited to, computers, printers, controller panels, networking, servers, alarm doors and wiring) and technical problems.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree, experience working with data management software, physical security software, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of office management techniques. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, Data Systems management, other software packages. Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of constituents both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to organize workflow and coordinate projects within the office and with other departments across campus. Should be able to meet requirements of the University's automobile insurance. Availability for evening and/or weekend work as necessary.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience working with the Lenel OnGuard and Genetec Video Management software systems. Experience in working with low voltage electrical issues such as door operator hardware, etc. ASIS Certification(s).
