Staff Research Associate Pharmaceutical Chemistry Full Time 83619BR Job Summary We are looking to hire a Staff Research Associate to assist with studies in neuroactive drug discovery in the zebrafish model organism. Duties to be performed will be maintaining wild type, transgenic and mutant zebrafish lines by breeding, screening and validating presence of transgenes or genetic mutations. The chosen technician will conduct experimental research including: assist in the execution of a large scale high-throughput behavioral drug screen, perform drug treatments from libraries into multi-well plates using a multi-channel pipette, and interacting with an automated behavioral recording rig; perform quality control checks on data collected; perform molecular assays such as DNA/RNA purification, PCR, cloning, and CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing; execute immunohistochemistry studies to label proteins and cells in the central nervous system; confocal microscopy; and any other relevant experimental procedures. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate). Through research and teaching, the Department seeks to understand the biological principles of small molecules, proteins, and cellular design, and to apply these principles for the therapeutic benefit of patients.
