JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Business Development Manager plays a key role in executing daily business development activities, managing client relationships, and identifying new opportunities to expand into adjacent and municipality-based business. This role requires an initiative-taking leader and manger with direct responsibilities such as prospecting, coordinating business initiatives, preparing proposals, and ensuring smooth collaboration with direct report, internal teams, and external partners.

Business Growth & Expansion:



  • Develop and execute strategies to drive revenue growth and expand the business's service offerings.
  • Follow up on direct or in support of Key Account Manager or leads, schedule meetings, and conduct sales presentations to promote services.
  • Drive process for preparing proposals, bids, and contracts for potential partnerships and business opportunities.
  • Track revenue performance, report on metrics, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Maintain a business pipeline, ensuring steady progress toward revenue targets for municipal and adjacent markets.


Portfolio Management:



  • Oversight: Develop and implement strategies to manage a portfolio of services, and clients.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and partners to align objectives and drive portfolio success across organization.
  • Forecasting & Planning: Develop financial forecasts, growth targets, and market trend analyses to guide portfolio decisions.
  • Regularly assess portfolio performance using KPIs, financial metrics, and customer insights.
  • Identify risks within the portfolio and establish mitigation strategies to ensure stability and growth.
  • Prioritize opportunities, personnel, and operational efforts based on portfolio priorities.


      Relationship Management:



      • Serve as the primary point of contact for business partners, responding to inquiries and maintaining positive relationships.
      • Conduct regular check-ins with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify expansion opportunities.
      • Schedule and attend meetings with municipal leaders, business owners, and community stakeholders.
      • Coordinate follow-ups on agreements, contracts, and partnerships to ensure timely execution.
      • Document and manage stakeholder feedback to improve service offerings and business strategies.


      Market Research & Competitive Analysis:



      • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and market needs.
      • Prepare annual business plans, reports and summaries on potential business changes and opportunities.
      • Monitor regional municipal policies and regulations that may impact business operations.
      • Knowledgeable of competitor services, pricing, and market positioning to drive bid win rates and high contract renewal rates.


      Coordination & Internal Collaboration:

      General



      • Manages Key Account Manager while working with internal teams, such as operations, finance, marketing and up to execute business development.
      • Prepare and submit any required business reports, meeting notes, and progress updates to senior leadership.
      • Assist in planning and coordinating promotional events, business forums, and networking activities.
      • Support the development of marketing materials, presentations, and promotional content.


      Operations Interface



      • Coordination & Communication: Act as the primary liaison between business development, sales, and operational teams.
      • Operational & Planning Alignment: Ensure facility capabilities align with business demands and customer expectations.
      • Capacity Planning: Lead support in the balancing of inbound workload distribution across multiple facilities to optimize resource utilization and customer satisfaction.
      • Annual Budgeting & Planning: Lead role in developing budgets and the balancing of all inbound materials distribution across multiple facilities to optimize resource utilization.
      • Issue Resolution: Facilitate communication to resolve process issues, logistics, quality concerns, or service disruptions and communicate corrective actions to customers.
      • Compliance & Standards: Understand operational practices adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocol.


      Business Policy & Compliance



      • Ensure that all business transactions comply with internal, municipal, and state regulations.
      • Assist in drafting internal policies to improve efficiency and standardize processes.
      • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to review contracts and agreements before finalization.


      Qualifications & Skills:



      • Bachelor's degree in business administration or agriculture
      • 7-10 years of experience in business development, corporate relations, or strategic planning, preferably within a municipal or government-affiliated business.
      • Strong understanding of public-private partnerships, economic development strategies, and municipal governance.
      • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
      • Ability to analyze data, develop reports, and present findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.
      • Staff Management Experience - direct along with indirect in a matrixed organization with supporting staff.

      Salary: $100,000 - $120,00 annually, based on experience
