Intern-Engineering & Construction Department Chelsea, MA

The MWRA Engineering & Construction Department has an opening for interns to assist Engineering staff with performance of engineering duties. These duties include engineering calculations, field investigations, data review and analysis, water and wastewater system evaluations, and documentation of lessons learned during an on-going construction project for use in future design/construction projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Review engineering reports and plans.
  • Compile data and perform data reviews and interpretations.
  • Assist in the evaluation of water and wastewater system performance.
  • Perform and verify engineering calculations.
  • Assist with document control services.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Assist with review of construction-related design changes, development of lessons learned, and improvement of construction contract specifications.


REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of two years of college in an accredited degree program in civil, construction management or environmental engineering. Coursework in environmental engineering, water and wastewater systems and/or hydraulics is preferred.

Familiarity with computers, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, GIS

Work Location: MWRA, 2 Griffin Way, Chelsea, MA

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 4:00PM

Internship duration: May - September
