Job Summary

Days of Work: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Work Location: On-site (Mankato, MN)
Salary Range: $88,548 to $132,823 annually
Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly

Job Description

Position Objective:

Manages the team responsible for material flow in support of the EPGA production schedule. Through the optimization and management of our local and global supply partners, this role ensures that the parts needed to support on-time delivery commitments to customers is achieved, within the businesses' financial objectives. Responsible for the complete site procurement process, this individual will leverage team development and planning to their advantage in the execution of resource/capacity utilization and inventory investment in a build to schedule, pull-type manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Sets order policies for material within Oracle. Establishes goals and targets for the department and individuals. Evaluates the material needs based on order demand and balances with the financial objectives defined by the business.
  • Supervise, evaluate and provide clear directions for the buyers' daily activities
  • Assist buyers in decision making and problem solving using appropriate coaching and training methods
  • Provides resolution to issues such as material shortages / negative inventory / bill issues.
  • Supervise and manage the logistics coordination, warehouse, transportation and Spare Parts shipments for the site ensuring proper execution of the procedures.
  • Partner with other departments to improve existing processes with a lean mindset.
  • Approves purchases of goods or services, analyzes changes or challenges in materials and indirect spend to find ways to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Adapt to changing business conditions daily, i.e. material replenishment techniques, sourcing decisions from domestic, North American and international suppliers.
  • Communicate internally as the voice of the supply base, while also representing the company's objectives externally.
  • Provide and communicates upcoming requirements and forecasts to key suppliers.
  • Plans, prepares, executes annual physical inventory and analyzes results for improvement opportunities.
  • Identifies trends and works with the planning group to proactively adjust master schedules based on relevant information.
  • Develop and manage the proper mix of products to be produced interplant vs. outside supplier, plans to minimize excess and obsolete materials and minimize capacity and/or material shortages.
  • Track, analyze and report the pertinent key production indicators as well as implementing plant specific improvement activities.
  • Drive inventory & cycle time reduction by applying Lean tools.
  • Review customer change orders for any potential price or inventory impact.
  • Effectively build lasting relationships with suppliers and develop staff to achieve their best performance on both a team and individual basis.

Experience/Skills:

  • Five (5) + years work experience in purchasing related field.
  • Ability to manage supplier development and performance efforts.
  • Ability to liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments and customers.
  • Detail oriented, demonstrated aptitude and precision working with numbers.
  • Knowledge of purchasing policies processes and procedures and the ability to negotiate best terms and pricing.
  • Must be a sole US Citizen

Education:

  • BS/BA Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related field required.
