Job Summary:

University Health Services is looking for a Staff Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team. Apply now to work in our exciting environment, meeting the health and well-being needs of the UW-Madison student population.

The Staff Psychiatrist provides routine and emergent psychiatric care to University of Wisconsin-
Madison students. This includes performing a comprehensive mental health history and diagnostic interview, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, and making therapeutic decisions including prescribing medications within the scope of state licensure. Collaborates with and provides consultation to other treatment providers including mental health and medical providers. Monitors patient outcomes and initiates modifications in treatment plan based on patient response. The provide must demonstrate a commitment to multiculturalism and serving underrepresented populations, follow agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA, and maintain accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations. Duties will be performed under the supervision of the Director of Psychiatry.


Responsibilities:

- Provides psychiatric care per national standards of care to patients with a variety of psychiatric disorders which include eating disorders, ADHD, psychotic illnesses, and substance use disorders.
- Educates mostly transitional-age patients from Wisconsin and around the globe.
- Develops and evaluates care plans, and prescribes medications and treatments in support of patient health and well-being.
- Collaborates and follows workflows in a complex system to engage with therapists within and outside the institution, with care managers to coordinate that care, and other referrals.
-Attends meetings to support institutional efforts.
-Completes documentation for eligibility for campus disability services, international student needs, qualifications to study abroad, etc.

- Minimum of one year of experience in a mental health setting

Preferred
- Experience working with transitional age youth/adolescents/ young adult patient population
- Experience in college health or college mental health setting


License/Certification:

MD or DO Licensure or eligibility to become licensed as a physician in the state of Wisconsin prior to
start date.
Board certification in Psychiatry.
Board eligible candidates will be considered only in their immediate post-graduate year. Board
eligible candidates must become board certified within 12-months of hire.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
