Overview

The Senior Specialist will plan and direct all major overhauls, station outages and low frequency PMs, as well as maintain the integrity of the Contractor Admin Process. Responsibilities include managing Maximo and Engage (E-Plan, DATA Splice, and Maintenance Technical Library), along with other administrative and training functions in various computer applications. The role involves conducting meetings to ensure compliance and cost management, and networking with management, union, and outside contractors to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Project Manager during Station Outages and serve as the station's outage coordinator (directing all services and material requirements (i.e., purchase requisitions, stock, and non-stock items), for all scheduled and forced outages. Analyze work scope and requirements for all outages with Company Engineering support.
  • Oversee the web-based MAXIMO application, chair daily WORM meetings and update work orders accordingly, provide MAXIMO training for all employees, and ensure work plans are established and loaded into Maximo or Engage (E-Plan, DATA Splice, and Maintenance Technical Library).
  • Maintain the integrity of the Contractor Administration Process, ensuring the process is audit ready and CAM compliant.
  • Oversees all compliance and preventive maintenance work orders for the location, provides status lists, and collaborates with System Engineering, Operations, EH&S, and technical groups to develop Maintenance Procedures for infrequently performed evolutions, such as low-frequency PMs and overhauls.
  • Chair the 59th Street Outage and PM review meetings and create weekly and outage work schedules by conducting weekly scheduling meetings with Operations, Maintenance, I&C, and Engineering.
  • Lead the effort in establishing the outage list, create the dollar estimates that supports each outage task and provides daily outage updates during the outage window. Coordinate the PM repairs for all rotating equipment (i.e. pumps, motors, turbines, fans, etc.).
  • Work with the stations budget analyst to prepare a budget plan that includes accurate funding for yearly PMs and assist in preparing planning packages while filling in for the planning supervisor and/or planning administrator.
  • Utilize mainframe and personal computer applications while maintaining system integrity through established security practices.
  • Update and maintain station's critical spare parts inventory by ensuring sufficient stock levels are available.
  • Strive to improve subordinates morale and productivity, adhere to Company rules and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, determine disciplinary actions, conduct interviews, participate in grievance settlements, evaluate work performance, and follow Corporate EEO policies consistent with Company values in treating peers, subordinates, superiors, customers, and the public.
  • Responsible for the preparation, integrity and maintenance of all records within the job scope. Ensure that all records, including appropriate reference materials, are kept current and are available.
  • Communicate clearly and logically both verbally and in writing, while listening effectively and allowing others to express their thoughts without prejudgment.
  • Minimize costs by saving time, materials, and following efficient work procedures within the jobs scope.
  • Develop personnel to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity by instructing, motivating, counseling and utilizing appropriate training.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree 3 years equivalent work experience in power plant environment, electrical and mechanical equipment or
  • Associate's Degree 4 years equivalent work experience in power plant environment, electrical and mechanical equipment or
  • High School Diploma/GED 5 years equivalent work experience in power plant environment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years equivalent work experience in power plant environment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Knowledge of safe work practices/procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment - Required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with both internal and external customers, support staff, and various levels of management and union - Required
  • Proficient in the following computer programs/applications Microsoft office, work management systems such as Maximo, required - Required
  • Knowledge of material procurement, outage coordination, technical report writing, scheduling, technical drawing interpretation, purchasing, power plant maintenance - Required
  • Ability to work as part of a team - Required
  • Knowledge and experience with steam turbines, gas turbines and generator overhauls, overhaul specifications, practices and methods - Preferred
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience with proven skills to motivate people - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Other: TWIC-Transportation Worker Identification Credential 1 1/2 Yrs Required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
  • Work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles and/or equipment
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to climb in and out of manholes and excavations
  • Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment and materials to various operating facilities
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Use hand-eye coordination to adjust controls on equipment
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be physically able to work in a power plant environment with extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work under conditions of high temperatures and at high elevations in the plant.
