Position Summary
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a full-time faculty position to join 4 other faculty members in the division of Pediatric Nephrology. The Department of Pediatrics is a multi-specialty group of >100 faculty at New Mexico's only medical education and research institution. The Division of Nephrology offers complete clinical care services for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired renal disease. Inpatient consultation is provided to PICU, NICU and general pediatric services. A pediatric outpatient dialysis unit is on-site within the Children's Hospital of New Mexico. Pediatric renal transplantations are performed as part of an active transplant program. Outpatient service provides care at the Children's Hospital and outreach clinics throughout the state of New Mexico. This individual will be required to teach, provide clinical care, conduct basic or clinical research, and possess strong interpersonal skills.
The position is designed for a candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a strong interest in basic or translational research. The position also involves teaching of medical students and pediatric residents at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. New Mexico is designated medically underserved region of the country and eligible faculty may apply for various loan repayment programs (e.g,. HRSA, NHSC, PLSF). Albuquerque a City in State of New Mexico New Mexico is a geographically large state, with both urban and rural populations totaling 2.1 million. Albuquerque is a four-season city one mile in elevation with year-round sun and moderate climate. Centrally located, it offers access to a variety of unique outdoor, culinary and cultural opportunities. Santa Fe, home to world-renowned art, food and history is nearby. Hiking, biking, skiing, golf, etc. are readily available. The University of New Mexico offers a variety of athletic and performing arts activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Board certified / Board eligible in Pediatric Nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to obtain Medical licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute and chronic dialysis in pediatric patients.
- Experience in pediatric kidney transplantation.
- Experience conducting basic or clinical research.
- Experience teaching house staff and medical students.
- A demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical, teaching and service to our learners and our underserved communities.
