Job Summary

Performs review of hospital inpatient DRG and/or CPT denials of RAC and non-RAC accounts. Reviews patient records for coding accuracy including review of supporting clinical documentation, present on admission indicators (POA), discharge disposition and any other pertinent data needed to capture coding accuracy. May also write and defend appeal letters to payers with strong attention to detail.

Education, Experience and Certifications.
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Advanced knowledge in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Pharmacology required. Current RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC-H, CPC or CIC required plus a passing score on the Coding test.

Acute Hospital coding experience preferred.
