Position Summary

As the Director of IT Strategy, Planning and Governance, you will be responsible for ensuring the Enterprise IT Organization is aligned with overall business strategy, adopts appropriate governance and adheres to transparent performance management. You will lead a team of Project Managers and/or partner with outside services, working closely with the CIO, other members of the IT senior leadership team and leaders across all business segments.

Responsibilities

This role will be critical in the transformation of the IT organization to establish and implement repeatable business-focused, adaptive governance of the IT Strategy including all IT roadmaps, demand planning, standardize portfolio and project management practices and IT performance measures. Responsible for strategic and tactical management of IT investments and initiatives through the coordination of:

  • Demand and portfolio management

  • Budget and performance management

  • Business relationship management

Demand and Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of portfolio and project management methodologies to ensure the successful strategic planning, execution, and successful delivery of initiatives.

  • Establishes the fundamental and basic decision making practices for prioritizing demand, allocating staffing, and assessing capacity to reduce delivery issues and increase resource utilization.

  • Develops and monitors leadership dashboards for the portfolio that provides visibility to oversee progress, track costs, and manage program or project risks.

Budget and Performance Management:

  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.

  • Tracks and monitors the health of an IT department by reporting key performance indicators and departmental operational metrics.

Business Relationship Management & Strategy

  • Partners with IT Business Relationship Management roles to understand the business, along with other members of the IT Leadership team to set the information and technology strategy and roadmap for the Enterprise.

  • Drives focus and prioritization to ensure appropriate allocation of resources across the portfolio.

  • Ensure that delivered initiatives/programs track to achieve targeted business outcomes.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of IT project managers.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Over 10 years' experience in delivery of IT initiatives across multiple domains (e.g. infrastructure, data and applications) with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven leadership experience of building an IT PMO function including understanding of project portfolio and project management methodologies, PMP certification preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget management, and resource allocation.

  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture and technology change in a dynamic and complex environment.

  • Strong business partnership and experience collaborating at senior executive levels.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel anticipated approximately 5-10%

Pay Range

  • $170,000-$200,000
