Position Summary

The VIP (Vertically Integrated Projects) Lab Manager at NYU Tandon is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of open lab and making facilities used by undergraduate academic project-based learning groups. This role ensures compliance with university policies and safety regulations while fostering a dynamic environment that supports experiential learning and innovation. This position plays a key role in maintaining resources, managing equipment operations, supervising students, training users, and supporting project success across diverse disciplines within the program.


Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Design, or a related area);

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related area

Required Experience:
3+ years Manufacturing with metal and wood, including mig/tig welding, lathes, saws and other power tools, managing lab or maker spaces, with a focus on supporting educational or project-based activities, supervision, managing budgets or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High level of independent thinking, creativity, and goal-oriented productivity. Ability to identify and support the implementation of best practices. Proficiency in operating and maintaining lab equipment and maker tools (e.g., 3D printers, CNC machines, electronics). Excellent communication and training skills to engage undergraduate learners. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.


Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,500.00 to USD $104,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
