We are seeking a Warehouse and Distribution Coordinator for our Boston Food Pantry Program in our Massachusetts Region.

The site is located at: 1033 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. The work schedule is: Tuesday - Saturday, 6:30 am - 2:30 pm.

Must have a current, valid driver's license.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Warehouse and Distributions Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, and management of a safe, cost-effective and efficient system of receiving and distributing food remotely including the overall coordination, management and supervision of warehouse facility, equipment and inventory. Responsible for maintaining multiple relationships with fellow employees, volunteers, the Greater Boston Food Bank, Community partner distributions, and others.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

• Responsible for receiving all food orders and deliveries in coordination with staff and volunteers.

• Responsible for overall maintenance of equipment including regular safety and servicing standards and food warehousing.

• Ensures that complete and accurate records are maintained of products received and distributed, including donated food and food from government programs.

• Maintains knowledge of mobile food distribution management in order to implement innovative ways to improve and maximize efficiency and enhance partner relations.

• Supervises, motivates and develops volunteer base.

• Establishes effective procedures and controls for the safe and efficient movement and preservation of product in compliance with all local, state, federal, USDA, and Feeding America standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent required.

• Experience: 1 year of related experience in a warehouse or with automated systems preferred.

• Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team. Basic reading, writing, communications and math skills required. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices is preferred.

• Travel: May require local travel. Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required.

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.

• Commitment to serving vulnerable populations and ending food insecurity in the community served by Food Programs at the American Red Cross.

• Work in a team environment in supporting program activity.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE:

Warehouse and logistics experience particularly in the food and produce industry preferred.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs frequently; lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs with assistance or the use of a powered industrial truck. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment. Position may require climbing of ladders for top-level selection. May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Noise level may be high when operating power equipment. Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions when transporting materials.
