Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst-Clinical Finance.
In this role, the successful candidate as the Sr. Financial Analyst reports to the Manager of Clinical Finance for Tisch/Kimmel, Rusk and LOH Finance Mission within NYU Langone Hospital and will provide Clinical Finance support to the Manager on a day to day basis. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for analyses regarding Clinical Finance which includes Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Data Analyzing, Creating Staffing Models and Improving Efficiency / Productivity. In addition the Sr. Financial Analyst will also be responsible in analyzing clinical data for use in developing analytics for clinical customers. The Sr. Financial Analyst should have a good working relationship with the clinical departments to understand their budget assumptions in order to investigate causes of variances, both volume/revenue and expense. Continuous engagement with clinical departments to explore revenue and expense opportunities. The Sr. Financial Analyst will assist with Ad-Hoc requests from the Senior Director and / or Director of Clinical Finance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the Cost Accounting to obtain Profit & Loss, Contribution Margin, Payor Rates, Trending and identifying opportunities. This related to both Inpatient and Outpatient population.
- Work with Clinical Departments to create staffing models as well as analyses related to patient volume.
- Utilizes the General Ledger to provide budgetary and actual information using trends and projections.
- Investigate causes of variance with respective departments in order to identify operational and financial opportunities.
- Manages the NYU Hospitals Clinical Capital budget requests to ensure that the requests are aligned to the patient needs while ensuring that the capital budget is fiscally managed.
- Provides a monthly budget performance analytics which includes analyzing causes and reasons of the budget and actual performance for both revenue and expenses.
- Assists in analytics that will include supporting strategic planning - long range forecast assumptions.
- Assists in annual and monthly operating budget planning.
- Review Monthly Budget Reclassifications to ensure sound budgeting and to align the staffing needs with volume trajectory. This includes ROI and detailed justifications to ensure that the Hospitals' Operating Margin is not affected by these requested changes.
- Incorporate new technologies, systems and processes to improve the daily operations of the Department.
- Reviewing and Tracking of Human Capital Management (HCM) Transactions to ensure correlation between volume and staffing levels.
- Interact with Hospital Operations to review monthly volume/expense variances for the root causes.
- Assists with special projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) and 3-5 years of related experience. A graduate in business or public administration is preferred. Other minimum qualifications include: excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a comprehensive knowledge all applications within Microsoft Office; specifically with Excel. He or She must know vlookups, pivot tables, sub-totals, and other Excel functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Finance. Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently as well as meeting deadlines while documenting work flows clearly and precisely. Excellent knowledge of Hospital Cost Accounting and Financial Reporting Systems.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $97,066.55 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
