DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position requires a diverse set of skills and responsibilities. You will be responsible for maintaining the Weiser State Forest lands, buildings, and picnic areas by operating various types of equipment. Your duties will involve shaping, filling, and smoothing roads and parking lots, as well as performing snow removal and clearing brush and debris along roadways. You will also be expected to install and maintain culverts and other drainage systems. Another important aspect of the job is locating, investigating, and reporting wildfire hazards. In addition, you will play a role in servicing and maintaining the equipment you operate, and may be called upon to assist with major repairs. Interested in learning more? - Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may require overtime and travel as operationally necessary.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
