ATS has an exciting line of high-performance test systems that support the semiconductor industry around the world.

ATS is looking for a Senior Thermal R&D Architect to join our team in Lake Forest, CA. This is a unique opportunity for a talented, experienced engineer with a diverse skill set to work within several engineering disciplines. This individual will perform a wide range of complex thermal /mechanical engineering functions related to design, testing and evaluation of thermal systems for testing electronic systems including semiconductors, photonics, and embedded devices. Conducts testing on new and modified designs and develops engineering prototypes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Design and develop thermal systems and interfaces for active thermal control.
  • Conduct thermal analysis to evaluate the performance of thermal components.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to integrate thermal solutions into product designs.
  • Perform thermal testing and validation of thermal components to ensure they meet design specifications and performance requirements.
  • Optimize thermal designs to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product performance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of thermal component designs, analysis, and testing results.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in thermal management technologies and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to thermal component design and performance.
  • Work as part of a team that includes procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance and technical support organizations to establish functional specifications for components to select vendors/suppliers for purchased parts, materials, and assemblies.
  • Identify the risk areas in design development and optimization opportunities.
  • Perform hands-on evaluation of prototype system build/sub-assembly build /thorough product performance assessment.
  • Provide hands-on support during product installation and commissioning at customer sites. Provide guidance to field service team.
  • Act as customer contact on selective technical matters.
  • All other duties and tasks that may be required.
