Planer Operator - Pineland Lumber

Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for a Planer Operator at our lumber mill in Pineland, Texas.

Compensation: To commensurate with experience.

The Experience You Will Bring (Requirements):

* At least 2 years of experience as a Planer Operator.

* At least 2 years of experience in a lumber mill.

* Operator must be proficient in HMI software operations.

What Will Put You Ahead:
* Basic computer skills.
* Experience utilizing CMMS.
* Maintenance and Reliability techniques including alignments and precision maintenance.

What You Will Do In Your Role (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):
* Safely operate the planer machine at designed speeds to produce lumber that meets SPIB quality requirements (includes the infeed and out feed settings).
* Ensure all work is completed, and the machine is set up and ready to run on the next shift.
* Ownership of the machine center, its components, and how to properly maintain those components.
* Maintain lumber quality size and adjusting the machine as necessary. Remove break ups from machine.
* Maintain the planer and knife room to housekeeping standard.
* Responsible for logging downtime issues into MES.
* Perform routine maintenance work and preventive maintenance inspections as scheduled.
* Work planer heads on knife rotation schedule and install/swap heads to maintain quality.

Other Considerations:
* Effective communication skills (both written and oral) within varying levels of the organization.
* Mechanically inclined with an understanding of basic math, read digital caliper, tape measure, and feeler gauges.
* Actively participate in the Safety program to improve processes as well as adhere to safety rules and regulations including the wearing of proper PPE.
* Work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
* Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling.
* Open to working any shift that may include days/nights, weekends, holidays and OT as needed.
* Attend continuing education and trainings as needed for the role.
