Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located at NASA's Langley Research Center.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join the Engineering, Pressure Systems team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the Pressure Systems Recertification supervisor. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Responsibilities

    Pressure Systems technicians identify and document system components, field verify configuration of existing drawings, develop isometric sketch and weld drawings to reflect changes in a system as well as support the Pressure Systems Recertification engineer as part of the recertification process.
  • P erform routine inspections (Nondestructive testing - Visual, Visual with Borescope, and Ultrasonic Thickness) on process piping systems and ground based pressure vessels based on government inspection standards and criteria and must be able to independently document the results of those inspections.
  • Must be able to read relevant technical drawings and specifications.
  • Monitoring of radiography may be requested.
  • The qualified candidate shall follow established safety policies and procedures and perform work in accordance with Amentum policies and procedures along with National and NASA codes and standards while maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship in performance of all duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications

U. S. Citizenship required. Valid Drivers License is required. Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering, mathematics or science, and four (4) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education/experience for a total of six (6) years is preferred.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

  • Office environment (50%)
  • Test /Field Environment (50%) - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, high areas, hazardous propellants, explosives and chemicals.
  • Must be comfortable in an industrial setting. Travel between facilities and test sites is required (50%)

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a high area (5%)
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter all areas including utility tunnels and test facilities
  • Must be able to walk, use vertical ladders of all sizes, along with being able to bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (10%)

Other Essential Functions

  • US Citizenship required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.
