Job Summary:

The Director of Human Resources supports business operations through partnering with assigned business units and functional departments to identify, develop and execute programs, policies, and procedures that support the human capital needs required to satisfy internal business functionality and external customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions:



  • As a champion of change and continuous improvement, drive a positive culture with an emphasis on employee development and a service focused Human Resources team.
  • Leads the tactical development and execution of human resource functional area processes and procedures. Provides leadership either directly or indirectly to subordinate Human Resources team members in the administration of, and compliance with, the department's business processes and procedures. Functional areas include recruitment, hiring, onboarding, compensation, performance management, benefits/wellness administration, attendance, compliance, employee development, and engagement.
  • Contribute at a strategic level to align the Human Resources function with company strategy and annual policy deployment objectives.
  • Serve as a link between the leadership team and individual team members by handling inquiries, communicating and interpreting policies, and handling employee relations issues as they arise.
  • Partner with Operations and Functional department leaders to implement and drive procedures and programs that enhance employee engagement and support a positive culture.
  • Oversee, resolve and thoroughly document employee investigations around complaints, harassment and other reported employee relations issues.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to ownership, leadership and subordinate HR team around progressive discipline and performance development. Ensure proper documentation and completion of forms and documentation.
  • Partnering with leadership to strategize and implement effective recruiting and staffing efforts to support manufacturing and business objectives today and in the future.
  • Provide support and coaching to supervisors and management in the implementation of policies and company initiatives.
  • Oversee and ensure the completion of performance management programs at all levels to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all government labor law requirements, EEO compliance, AAP, ACA, ADA, FMLA, etc. Ensure leaves are documented and tracked appropriately in HRIS system (UKG).
  • Partnering with the VP of Organizational Development, preparing budgets and supporting analysis for human resources department.
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
  • Audits and reviews departmental processes, policies and procedures to ensure best practice compliance. Conducts process improvement activities as needed to address problematic issues or inefficient practices. Performs benchmark analysis with external sources to ensure NMG stays relevant in today's workforce climate with regard to employee relations issues and employment related practices, while maintaining a solid understanding of human resource issues spanning geographic and cultural boundaries.
  • Oversees assigned projects/programs and team members within the HR department and across the organization; identify, track and address training and development needs of HR team members minimizing gaps as required.
  • Works to maintain a union-free environment by implementing proactive employee relations engagement initiatives and fostering an environment of open communication with and between all levels of employees and management.
  • Assists with AS/ISO/QS & FAA requirements implementation and ongoing recertification requirements.


      Additional Duties:



      • Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
      • Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
      • Must remain current with and complete all required training as assigned.
      • Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.


      Qualifications:



      • Minimum 5+ years in an HR leadership role with full-function and subordinate team responsibility.
      • Manufacturing environment experience required; privately held/family-owned business experience preferred.
      • Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills, both oral and written.
      • Well-developed Emotional Intelligence and interpersonal conflict resolution skills.
      • Strong bias for collaboration with other leaders with the ability to work outside of standard Human Resources responsibilities to support operations.
      • Will demonstrate a high concern for people, and a high concern for results in support of a healthy and productive culture.
      • Strong professional presence as needed for representing the organization internally and externally via presentations, meetings, conferences & training classes.
      • Ability to compile and synthesize large volumes of information and concisely convey meaning with appropriate call to action for key concepts and needs.
      • Advanced computer proficiency with MS Office, Internet, and HRIS systems (UKG Pro Software highly preferred).
      • Experience with management and/or implementation of self-insured or self-funded health insurance.
      • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and manage sensitive information without compromise.
      • Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
      • Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
      • Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
      • May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.


      Education:



      • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, HR or related business field is required.
      • SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred.
      • Executive Coaching certification highly desirable
