Automatic transmission and driveline design and release specialist for shifting systems and clutches. The Shifting System and Clutch Technical Specialist is responsible for the design & optimization of the automatic transmission shifting system components (friction material, separator plates, snap rings, clutch housings...etc.) The Shifting System Specialist is responsible for specifying and maintaining key component design requirements. He/she will work in the COE (council of excellence for automatic transmissions shifting systems). Provide technical support and leadership within the transmission and driveline product release center engineering team for given propulsion system components.

Responsibilities



  • Design and release responsible for key components for automatic transmissions
  • Lead and ensure key components design best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvements are followed and integrated into product design release process
  • Lead technical infrastructure for key components, documentation, specifications, requirements definitions and drawing signoffs for key supplied components
  • Lead and support warranty and quality related topics
  • Promote intellectual property identification and development
  • Coaching, training and mentoring less experienced engineers

Basic Qualifications:



  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in automatic transmission clutch systems and components
  • Virtual analysis design and modeling experience
  • Understanding of system requirements engineering required for customer functions within the electric drive gear reducer and automatic transmission systems
  • Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership teams
  • Ability to travel globally to suppliers



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree in with emphasis in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Working level experience with suppliers of torque converters and automatic transmissions
  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification
