This opening is located in our Southborough, MA office and requires on-site attendance five days a week.

This position is responsible for production test support for all Cognex products inspected or tested in our Southborough Distribution Center. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Engineering Manager, the Senior Technician will mainly be responsible for the troubleshooting of Cognex products that are returned from the field. This role will work closely with Quality Assurance Engineers, the RMA team, Manufacturing engineering, and test engineering.

Essential Functions:

  • Executesthe assembly and testing of multiple printed circuit boards and complex electro-mechanical assemblies in a production environment.

  • Utilizes oscilloscopes and multimeters to debug complex analog and digital circuit boards to the component level.

  • Identifies and documents engineering and test engineering issues, providing feedback for continuous improvement.

  • Conducts thorough inspections of PCBs and performs repairs when necessary.

  • Conductstroubleshooting efforts to component level, performs assembly inspection, and provides material support.

  • Develops, enhances, and maintains comprehensive assembly documentation and work processes, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

  • Analyzes and communicates trends to relevant cross-functional team members.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadershipin a team environment with adaptable work conditions.

  • Expertise in IPC-610 standardsand their implementation.

  • Proficient in interpreting and executingall ECOs, including complex rework instructions.

  • Advanced proficiency in PC quality data entryand related environments.

Minimum Education and Work Experience Required:

  • High School or equivalent required. Technical certifications arehighly desired.

  • 4 years' experience in electronics testing.
