JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Budget and Resource Planning is seeking an Accounting Clerk III to join their team. This position serves as liaison between vendors, bank, etc., promotes efficiency and sustainability initiatives towards paperless processes, makes standard calculations to accurately compile and report statistics, analyzes and verifies internal consistency, completeness and mathematical accuracy of account documents ad makes adjustments. Additionally, prepares basic to intermediate monthly and annual reconciliation of ledger accounts and other accounts as assigned to department. prepares, produces, balances, and posts financial department data. posts completed account information to verify accounts are balanced, and resolves discrepancies in departmental data, both written and verbal. May monitor grant budgets for allowable expenditures and resolve all discrepancies. This role requires proficiency with Excel and accounts payable/receivables or bookkeeping. Additional experience is as follows:



  • Accounts payable experience:

    • Acquiring and processing legal fee invoices.
    • The ability to resolve complex billing issues.
    • Perform first-line review of invoices and timekeeper rates for compliance with outside counsel contracts.


  • Accounts receivable experience which includes:

    • Preparation and disbursement of invoices to customers in accordance with licensing agreements.
    • The ability to resolve issues with delinquent accounts by building relationships with the licensee billing contacts.


  • High level of professionalism and exceptional client service skills.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    High School Diploma or equivalent


  • Experience
    5 years experience and an understanding of bookkeeping accounting principles but not requiring the skills of a fully trained accountant.



JOB DUTIES



  • Performs a broad range of accounting projects with lead responsibility for accounting records in a department.
  • Provide working supervision to other Accounting Clerks.
  • Performs audits and review of transactions.
  • Serves as liaison between vendors, bank, etc.
  • Promote efficiency and sustainability initiatives towards paperless processes.
  • Makes standard calculations to accurately compile and report statistics.
  • Analyzes and verifies internal consistency, completeness and mathematical accuracy of account documents ad makes adjustments.
  • Prepares basic to intermediate monthly and annual reconciliation of ledger accounts and other accounts as assigned to department.
  • Prepares, produces, balances, and posts financial department data.
  • Posts completed account information to verify accounts are balanced.
  • Resolves discrepancies in departmental data, both written and verbal.
  • May monitor grant budgets for allowable expenditures and resolve all discrepancies.
  • May produce standardized financial reports for management regarding standing on individual accounts in addition to overall departmental financial status.
  • May perform duties of supervisor in their absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
