- Oversee and manage OxyChem's charitable and community relations investment portfolio as well as our employee engagement programs. Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance social impact by developing sustainable solutions that effectively address critical needs within local communities.
- Leverage Oxy's existing community partnerships to optimize the social benefit for our community stakeholders and support the company's business objectives.
- Establish metrics, measuring both impact and value on community investments, involvement, and programs, inclusive of conducting impact and return assessments/analysis and reporting for the community relations program; recommend ways the company can react to opportunities identified through that evaluation process by measuring the value of an investment and assess how the strategy affects business objectives.
- Identify and write community events and employee engagement stories for internal distribution on the company intranet site.
- Collaborate successfully across the company's business units and operations, including Communications, Business Transformation, External Affairs, Government Relations, Legal/Compliance, and Human Resources teams.
- Partner with external and internal stakeholders to ensure outstanding implementation of the company's charitable giving strategy and our community relations and employee engagement programs - including communications to employees, senior leaders, executives, in-person meetings with community partners, preparing proposals, and making recommendations to senior management, and executing contracts and associated employee benefits.
- Partner, collaborate, and engage with the company's executives, senior leadership, and communication teams to ensure internal alignment of the company's community relations strategy, vision, and strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, philanthropic organizations, and third-party constituencies and represent Oxy at company-sponsored and events.
- Manage the budget, including charitable and outreach activities. Prepare a detailed annual budget and re-evaluate the portfolio utilizing quantitative and qualitative impact metrics, to provide recommendations for the following year.
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in broad issues aligned with the company's priorities (e.g., impact investing, philanthropy, community development, employee engagement and advocacy, sustainability, etc.).
- Articulate the company's mission, strategy, and landscape of company philanthropy and community development to employees in an engaging and compelling way, connecting the dots for employees, and raising awareness of community outreach, advocacy efforts, and volunteerism.
- Maintain an understanding of the company's business operations, goals, and objectives in order to set priorities for community investments and activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Corporate Responsibility/Sustainability, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 10+years of experience in community relations/affairs, employee advocacy, Human Resources, corporate philanthropy, non-profit or foundation management, or equivalent experience with progressively increasing responsibilities.
- 7+years of relevant experience in program management, partnership development, relationship management, and/or grant-making preferred.
- Strong program and project management experience. Capable of facilitating, managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and resourceful problem solver. Can formulate and execute plans efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- Experience in the seamless implementation of strategic initiatives and organizational transitions, ensuring a smooth and successful integration of new approaches and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to comfortably interact with executives, senior leaders, and external partners through effective communication (written, verbal and presentation).
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and executing volunteer events to enhance employee engagement and advocacy, fostering a positive organizational culture.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, including advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies.
- Excellent networking skills, with the ability to positively represent the company at all times.
- Availability to work evenings and weekend events as needed.
- Advanced skills in MS Office
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience directly managing direct reports and project teams is preferred.
- Proficient understanding of on-site Chemical or Manufacturing plant operations, encompassing a deep knowledge of the structural dynamics and cultural nuances associated with operational plants preferred.
- Proven track record of enhancing a Fortune 500 company's brand through community programs preferred.
- Demonstrates high levels of creativity, innovation, flexibility, and collaboration. Works well in a team-oriented environment. Shows initiative and a results-oriented mindset.
