Your Role at Cabot

PROCESS SAFETY MANAGEMENT (PSM) & OPTIMIZATION ENGINEER (Pampa, TX)

Provides leadership, oversight, and technical support for Pampa's site Process Safety Management (PSM) program development, implementation, and sustainment to assure compliance with OSHA, EPA, corporate SH&E standards, and all Federal, State, and local Process Safety regulations. The role provides guidance and training to the plant personnel in order to promote the growth of the PSM culture, as well as employee's development for PSM analysis leadership. The role may also be accountable for exercising appropriate judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on achieving process safety and improvement goals.



How You Will Make an Impact

    Leads the efforts of the site to accomplish PSM program requirements, including a comprehensive management program that integrates technologies, procedures, and practices aligned to OSHA & Cabot Corporation standards.
  • Provides technical assistance to engineers, process supervisors, maintenance and plant management, in order to maximize the performance of the plant, ensuring safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance of production units.
  • Leads the Process Hazard Analysis program, ensuring Cabot Corporate Standards compliance, developing tools to identify and mitigate process safety risks, sharing learnings across Cabot's Carbon Black network, and stablishing tools to follow-up the progress of the program.
  • Accountable for plant PSM Procedures (e.g., MOC, PSSR & PHA) development and update in order to guarantee that local procedures stay in compliance with Corporate Standards.
  • Tracking and reporting all action items to closure for audits, incident investigations, and PHAs.
  • Provide training to employees and contractors (as required) to assure understanding and compliance with Cabot Process Safety Standards and requirements of local process safety requirements.
  • Communicates regularly with regional and global counterparts in Carbon Black network to facilitate continuous improvement and ongoing organizational learning.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields and quality in accordance with business needs.
  • Gathers and evaluates appropriate data, utilizing statistical techniques, to improve process capability and/or identify root causes of problems, and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate unit Continuous Process Improvement team efforts.

What You Will Bring to Cabot

REQUIRES

  • Bachelors degree or FDE/Foreign Degree Equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline AND minimum of 3 years of hands-on chemical manufacturing plant experience in the areas of process, production, reliability, or maintenance.
  • Requires the following experience:
  • 3 years of experience in Chemical Manufacturing, Carbon Black process and Carbon Black product technology;
  • 2 years of experience in Process Safety Management and OSHA regulations including elements of OSHA PSM regulation 29 CFR 1910.119;
  • 2 years of experience in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as a facilitator, scribe, or process expert;
  • 2 years of experience in incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis techniques;
  • 2 years of experience in managing projects including planning, task identification and achieving milestones;
  • 2 years of experience in team working, management by influence and using influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives;
  • 1 year of experience with ABS Group's LEADER process hazard analysis (PHA) software;
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office Software Package (Word/Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint/ Teams) including PowerBI, SharePoint, OneNote & OneDrive;
  • 3 years of experience creating and delivering presentations, conducting trainings and guiding facilitations.
