The Opportunity

We are seeking an Assistant Director, Content to join our Firm. Within this position, you will oversee a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the strategic development and execution of marketing and communications content and collateral. This position will be based in our New York office and has a hybrid schedule. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees Firm-authored content, collateral materials and digital marketing presence to ensure alignment with the Firm's global brand and strategic objectives.
  • Manages Firm's editorial function and social media team, and collaborates closely with partners, office administrators and business services professionals globally on content development and related projects.
  • Uses data and market intelligence to conceptualize and implement new and exciting enhancements to Firm-authored content and other collateral materials, ensuring they are best positioned to be optimized for business development, attorney recruiting and other relevant uses.
  • Ensures that communications and messaging in external and internal channels across all regions are harmonized and streamlined.
  • Updates and develops policies and best practices for social media activities and trains Firm personnel on adherence and adoption.
  • Harmonizes internal Firm newsletters and other communications vehicles to ensure consistency of brand and messaging.
  • Provides guidance and oversight to the editorial team, fostering professional growth and ensuring adherence to Firm policies, practices, and industry trends.
  • Effectively utilizes the Firm's performance management process to communicate performance expectations, monitor performance, coach employees, and manage unsatisfactory performance.
  • Participates in the interviewing, selection and training process.
  • Oversees employees' work performance and provides guidance in the resolution of problems.
  • Initiates disciplinary procedures in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
  • Recommends guidelines and practices to promote efficiency, effectiveness, excellent customer service and improved employee relations, in alignment with the Firm's Core Values.
  • Develops and communicates departmental guidelines and procedures with respect to editorial projects.
  • Engages in strategic (i.e., long-range) planning by developing departmental goals and supporting objectives for assigned department(s).
  • Demonstrates significant independence in the role.
  • Consistently demonstrates thought leadership and the implementation of best practices.
  • Demonstrates effective decision making.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.

  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to administer Firm policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities, organizing and prioritizing work and delegating effectively
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality, use discretion, and exercise independent and sound judgment
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Flexibility to adjust hours to meet operating and business needs

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior marketing or communications role
  • Law Firm or professional services experience preferred

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.
