ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Field Installation and Repairs




  • Diagnoses cause(s) of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of products and equipment and performs repairs and preventative and corrective maintenance.


  • Perform and document systematic failure analysis, troubleshooting and repair of nonconforming products


  • Diagnose and document the cause(s) of electrical, optical, and/or mechanical malfunctions or failure of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.


  • Programs and debugs circuit boards with embedded microprocessors.


  • Manages key customer maintenance agreements and all aspects of support for the customer



Integrates and tests infrared testing systems.




  • Test and certify electro-optical performance and calibration of SBIR products in accordance with applicable procedures. Perform and verify precise adjustments as deemed appropriate to ensure component and/or system-level conformance with requirements.


  • Provide expert measurement support to the engineering staff in order to facilitate failure analysis and/or design characteristics optimization of SBIR products and equipment.


  • Modify and/or test electro-optical prototypes in accordance with engineering staff instructions.


  • Create calibration, configuration and test procedures for SBIR products.


  • Configures embedded controllers and creates and loads calibration data.


  • Applies Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer). Excel skillset includes use of Excel math functions and statistics (mean, standard deviation) and creating graphs.


  • Applies experience reading and using BOMs, assembly drawings, and electrical schematics.



Required travel for field work is estimated at 25 -- 50% of work time, but may be more during surge periods.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BA/BS Engineering or Sciences, or other technical degree strongly preferred

Strong math skills;

Proficiency in high-speed digital circuits, system integration and test.

Experience using electrical lab equipment (DMM, DSOs, power supplies);

Strong electronics experience with good troubleshooting skills

Experience with precision optical assemblies: assembly, cleaning and alignment procedures;

Experience with and understanding of interferometry;

Experience with and understanding of the use of theodolites and autocollimators;

Experience with optical specifications and inspecting optical components;

Experience reading engineering drawings;

Experience using mechanical measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, toolmaker's microscope, gauge blocks and pins;

Experience performing optical tests and reporting results to engineering;

Good Problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Experience with mechanisms and procedure development.

Experience in multi-tasking.

Must have experience successfully performing detail-oriented work.

3 Years Related Experience with Optics and electronic instrumentation. Must be able to use autocollimators, theodolites, alignment telescopes, lasers, and/or interferometers.
