Engineering Technician III - General Maintenance Worker

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, furniture assembly/disassembly, furniture moving/storing, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Supporting the Material and Manufacturing Directorate laboratories which provide leading edge futuristic research in support of the war fighter. Modern materials analysis capabilities, laser, and coatings research are a few of many core engineering studies that are ongoing. Paralleling the dynamics of research is the equipment supporting these studies. Examples of some specialized equipment would include lasers, environment chambers, vacuum chambers, microscopes, network servers.
Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
