Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000

The pay range is based on consideration of criteria such as required qualifications, experience, education and skills. Marquette Bank reserves the right to offer the selected applicant a salary commensurate with the applicant's qualification, experience, education and skills.

Position Summary:

Marquette Bank is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Lending to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing commercial Banking relationships, including acquiring new business, structuring, underwriting, and closing commercial real estate loans, and maintaining an existing loan portfolio. You will be expected to deliver high-quality service to clients while achieving profitability targets and ensuring the bank's safety and soundness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a commercial/real estate loan portfolio between $55MM and $95MM.
  • Meet or exceed annual goals for loans, deposits, services, portfolio management, and non-interest income.
  • Proactively build new business relationships through referrals and prospecting efforts.
  • Collaborate with departments, particularly retail branches, to promote awareness of commercial loan products.
  • Analyze customer needs and identify business solutions using the bank's products and services.
  • Review financial data to assess creditworthiness and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Negotiate loan terms, including rates, fees, and repayment schedules.
  • Monitor existing loan portfolio, including reviewing overdrafts and performing site visits as necessary.
  • Approve or recommend loan applications within established lending authority and present loan requests exceeding authority to the Executive Loan Committee.
  • Conduct site inspections for real estate-related loans, including follow-up inspections for construction loans.
  • Work with environmental firms, title companies, and legal counsel to facilitate credit requests.
  • Participate in department and bank-wide projects and committees as assigned by senior leadership.
  • Engage in community activities and contribute to the bank's CRA initiatives to increase visibility and generate new business.
  • Actively comply with all applicable laws and regulations to include the Bank Secrecy Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and all other deposit, lending, or non-deposit service regulations; adhering to the Bank's internal policies, procedures, and risk management responsibilities contained in the Employee Handbook, the Employee Code of Conduct, and other applicable policies.

Knowledge/Abilities/Experience and Training Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field, or formal credit training at a financial institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial lending, including business development and portfolio management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in commercial real estate financing, banking regulations, and loan documentation.
  • Ability to analyze and understand customer borrowing needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with bank computer systems.
  • Strong client relationship-building skills and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to travel locally within the Chicago metropolitan area as needed.
