Position Highlights The University of Arizona College of Education is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Education Site Coordinator and Community Liaison to foster meaningful connections between families, community members, and the faculty and students in the Early Childhood Education program. This role is instrumental in supporting student teachers, coordinating field experiences, teaching and mentoring future educators, and strengthening school and community partnerships to enhance teacher preparation.

The ideal candidate has experience in early childhood and/or elementary education, mentoring preservice educators, and building relationships that promote and sustain community engagement. They will coordinate student fieldwork and student teaching placements, mentor teacher candidates, develop outreach initiatives, and teach early childhood courses focused on culturally sustaining pedagogies, multilingual learners, and social justice in education.

This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

Community and Family Engagement:



  • Serve as a bridge between families, community members, and the University's Early Childhood Education program.
  • Design and implement outreach activities that promote family involvement in early childhood education.
  • Plan and coordinate community events, school visits, and family engagement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a database of community partners and resources.
  • Assess and report on outreach efforts to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Represent the program at advisory group meetings and professional events.


Student Teaching and Fieldwork Coordination:



  • Support fieldwork and student teaching placements in collaboration with schools, directors/principals, mentor teachers, and the Director of Field Experiences.
  • Mentor and support teacher candidates, including liaising with university support programs (e.g., DRC, TRIO, ATA).
  • Conduct fieldwork observations and provide feedback to teacher candidates.
  • Facilitate communication among students, instructors, directors, principals, and mentor teachers.
  • Develop resources and training materials for mentor teachers and students in fieldwork.
  • Organize and lead weekly Professional Learning Time sessions focused on early childhood and elementary education topics, certification, professional development, etc.
  • Participate in admissions interviews and student support meetings, including developing Professional Support/Growth Plans.


Teaching and Program Support:


  • Teach early childhood courses in the Early Childhood Education Program.
  • Supervise student teachers in their fieldwork placements and provide guidance.
  • Support students in navigating certification exams and program requirements.
  • Attend site coordinator meetings, department meetings, and faculty stakeholder discussions.
  • Operate within budgetary guidelines and follow University policies for outreach and program operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, families, and school partners.
  • Familiarity with university student support services (e.g., DRC, TRIO)
  • Knowledge of Arizona's early childhood education landscape and certification processes.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in teacher preparation, student teaching supervision, or community outreach.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading professional development for educators.
  • Active in national organizations related to early childhood education/teacher education and/or higher education
  • Interest in and experience with active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of innovative technology, and hybrid and online learning
  • Background in university student teacher mentoring or supervision.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience in developing equitable, humanizing academic support strategies with students.
  • Experience developing and leading educational programming.
