About This Position

The IT Team Lead role is responsible for the execution of tactical and strategic activities on a day to day basis, including technical support for individual tasks. This position leads employees in prioritizing and completing assigned tasks and projects. This position is also responsible for people management activities including career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and performance reviews.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Leads the execution of tactical and strategic activities on a day-to-day basis, including technical support for individual tasks.
  • Provides direct supervision to a team comprised of professional and/or technician roles.
  • Directs and coordinates all team activities personally or through direct reports under guidance of the Manager.
  • Performs people management activities, including career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and performance reviews.
  • Identifies, communicates, and implements potential changes to procedures within own team.
  • Leads employees to understand, prioritize, and complete assigned tasks/projects.
  • Enforces quality standards for products or services.
  • Creates a collaborative team that supports a diverse environment.
  • Implements task automation and process improvements; recommends enhancements that result in increased quality and efficiencies.
  • Ensures compliance to and upholds the standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Assists the Manager in the development of department metrics to ensure compliance of standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborates and partners with direct reports and/or functional peer groups. Collaboration may involve presentation and exchange of information.
  • Defines, develops, communicates, and implements standards, processes, and procedures for the team. Also assists with defining departmental standards, processes, and procedures.

  • Plans and manages project activities within project plan and/or provides input into the tasks in the project plan.
  • Works on medium to large, complex initiatives with interdependencies where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of variable factors and proactive risk management.
  • May determine scope of work assignments.
  • Prepares and delivers informal and formal presentations to own team, department, other IT teams, and business partners.
  • Proactively seeks training and developmental activities related to the industry and recommends for self and others.
  • Assists others with identifying career development opportunities and develops training plans for team members.
  • Provides escalation assistance; recommends potential solutions to issues; follows established escalation procedures; resolves moderately complex issues.
  • Provides guidance and direction to professional individual contributors.
  • Acts as advisor to team and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Interacts daily with subordinate and functional peer groups.
  • Interaction normally requires the ability to gain consensus and cooperation of others from multiple areas/departments.
  • Other duties as determined by the needs of the business.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
