Job Description: Position Summary: The Director of Consumer and Indirect underwriting is responsible for overseeing the Indirect Underwriting department and the Centralized Underwriting department, developing and implementing underwriting policies and procedures, and protecting the assets of the credit union through sound lending and analytical practices with Everwise's lending guidelines. The incumbent will ensure the effective evaluation of financial risks associated with loan and credit applications aligning to compliance and regulatory requirements. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead, manage, and develop the centralized and indirect underwriting teams.
- Manage and oversee the underwriting process for consumer loans which drives a culture of underwriting excellence.
- Monitor and analyze underwriting performance, including loss ratios, profitability and claims trends and report to senior leaders.
- Define strategic underwriting plans that align with the risk profile of the organization.
- Effectively lead daily operations of the department including applications in Meridian Link, queues, underwriting of applications and communicating decisions to business partners.
- Responsible for reviewing, counseling, and assisting in approving and declining loans within the Indirect Underwriting Department and Centralized Underwriting Departments.
- Responsible for approving all employee loans, as per the Everwise loan policy and loan guidelines.
- Develop and monitor goals and reports for Underwriters, including but not limited to measures of approvals, declines, pending, credit tier mix, and more.
- Address escalated issues and concerns from internal and external members.
- Maintains good working relationships with participating dealer base, including promoting the Credit Union as the preferred lending source, presenting difficult denials in a positive relationship building manner while assuring prompt, courteous service.
- Responsible for data driven analysis resulting in developing and recommending plans for expansion of existing lending programs and operations as well as new program and product development.
- Responsible for protecting the assets of the credit union by ensuring the highest quality of underwriting in the Indirect and Centralized Underwriting Departments.
- Develop, review and update underwriting policy and procedures with regulatory requirements
- Cross-functional communication on underwriting strategies, decision processes and change in policies to key stakeholders
- Responsible for the annual budgets of the Indirect and Centralized Underwriting Departments.
- Assist VP of Consumer Lending and other executives with development and maintenance of policies and procedures to achieve strategic goals.
- Accountable for communicating and re-enforcing corporate and department strategies, policies, goals, to the Indirect and Centralized Underwriting departments and relating operational concerns, and successes to VP of Consumer Lending and Senior Management.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the Credit Union.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in the lending field with progressive underwriting experience and Indirect Dealer financing
- 2+ years in lending management
- 4+ years leadership experience
