We're looking to hire a talented Application Engineer supporting our Sumig product based in Denton, TX.

Reporting to the Robotics Sales Director, the Application Engineer for Robotics is the primary technical resource. for the field sales force and are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Primary Duties

  • Installation & Commissioning: Install and commission robotic welding systems at customer sites, ensuring proper integration with existing equipment and adherence to company standards. This includes system setup, programming, testing, and training customer personnel.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on robotic welding systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components. Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Technical Support: Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring optimal system performance. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Troubleshooting: Utilize diagnostic tools and technical documentation to identify and resolve complex system issues. Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal resources.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for customer personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic welding systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service visits, repairs, and installations. Contribute to the development of technical documentation and service procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to developing new service strategies. Stay up to date on the latest technologies and advancements in robotic welding.
  • Actively pursue ideas in developing market needs/strategies and value-added activities.
  • Supports the Sales Team in selling, demonstrating, and validating ESAB Solutions.
  • Support ESAB military approvals in various filler metal product lines.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customers to identify opportunities to configure and qualify ESAB products to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Provide technical expertise to demonstrate value and win large opportunities with the RDS offering.
  • Support with R&D and quality teams on new product introductions and product development.
  • Work with ESAB quality team and filler metal tested orders providing technical expertise.
  • Successfully conduct and manage FAT and SAT when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field service, preferably with robotic systems or welding equipment.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, resistance welding).
  • Proficiency in robotics programming and control systems. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with PLC programming and automation is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Working Conditions

  • Travel extensively to customer sites, often requiring overnight stays and extended periods away from home. Greater than 50%.
  • Physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking, stooping, and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes and pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
  • May be exposed to varying weather during travel.

Pay Range:

$83,894.00-$97,734.00
