(Remote, Full-Time) Azure Data Migration Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) Required We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Migration Engineer with at least five (5) years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data migration solutions. This role involves creating robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and implementing ETL processes using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to seamlessly migrate legacy application data from Microsoft SQL Server to modern cloud-based platforms. This individual will be required to work closely with members of NexGen and client's teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical staff, and project managers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Design, develop, and implement data migration solutions to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from legacy Microsoft SQL Server databases into Azure cloud-based data storage solutions.
- Develop and manage data pipelines for efficient data generation, collection, processing, and integration.
- Utilize Azure Data Factory (ADF) to design and orchestrate ETL workflows for seamless data migration.
- Ensure data integrity and quality by implementing validation, transformation, and cleansing processes during migration.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval strategies for Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Box, and Azure Storage (Azure Blobs, Azure Container Storage).
- Monitor and troubleshoot data migration issues, ensuring seamless transition with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with database administrators, application developers, and cloud engineers to align migration strategies with project goals.
- Document migration processes, data models, and transformation logic to support operational maintenance and future enhancements.
- Implement security best practices in data migration, ensuring compliance with federal data governance standards.
Technical Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data migration, and ETL development.
- Strong expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF) for designing and managing ETL workflows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (legacy data source).
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Box, and Azure Storage (Blobs, Container Storage) for cloud data migration.
- Knowledge of data modeling, indexing, partitioning, and performance optimization for large-scale data migration.
- Experience with data validation, cleansing, and transformation methodologies to ensure high-quality data migration.
- Strong skills in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization for SQL-based migrations.
- Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, or other cloud-based analytics solutions is a plus.
- Experience working in government or federal IT environments.
Desired Skills:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
- Experience with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for automation.
- Understanding of cloud security best practices and data governance in Azure.

- The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
- US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or in a related field.
