We are seeking an experienced expeditor with expertise in shipping and logistics management to join our team. In this role, you will ensure that all parts and materials from suppliers are delivered on time and in accordance with customer specifications, with a strong focus on maintaining the smooth flow of the supply chain for defense-related projects. You will also be responsible for coordinating the shipping process with an emphasis on internal paperwork and customer portals. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple suppliers, resolve logistical issues, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expedite orders with suppliers to ensure materials and parts are delivered on schedule and meet customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to track order statuses, resolve delays, and communicate delivery timelines to internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and logistics providers to ensure timely deliveries / shipments and smooth communication.
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively address any shipping or delivery issues to prevent disruptions to project timelines.
  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., procurement, production) to ensure that materials are ready for shipment and that all necessary documentation (e.g., shipping manifests, compliance certificates) is completed.
  • Prepare reports on shipping and logistics performance, identifying areas for improvement and streamlining processes where possible.
  • Verify shipment details, including addresses, product quantities, shipping methods, and source inspection requirements.
  • Support communication between the shipping, sales, and contract departments; review picklists to track shortages.
  • Interface with customer shipping portals to ensure all shipping needs are being met.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements and defense industry regulations, ensuring all shipments are compliant with ITAR, EAR, and other applicable standards.

Required Skills:

  • This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including sourcing, order tracking, and logistics coordination.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple suppliers and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements specific to the defense industry (e.g., ITAR, EAR).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills / Qualifications:

  • Costpoint and Great Plains ERP system preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience (or in progress).
  • Understanding of MRP systems
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with optimizing logistics processes.
  • Certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD, or similar certifications).
  • Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for process improvement within the supply chain.
  • Familiarity with government contracts or procurement processes is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage and track multiple supplier relationships simultaneously.

Expected Compensation:

The expected compensation for this role is between $60,000-$80,000 annually. Please note, this is the expected compensation however, Ultra Maritime considers many factors in determining compensation prior to offer, such as: responsibilities and scope of role, candidate's work experience and education related to position, applicable certifications or trainings, business and market conditions.
