Performs the quality processes required in the quality inspection area to ensure quality processes are performed and quality parts are produced.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

This position may involve knowledge of confidential information. Such information will be handled with the utmost discretion.



  1. Operate portable CMM and perform hand dimensions as needed to complete the operation.
  2. Quality Tool Inspection: Verifies the tools used is calibrated and in proper condition.
  3. In-Process Inspection: Verifies the in-process procedures against the production planning and the customer requirements.
  4. Final Inspection: Verifies the final parts against the purchase order and the customer requirements.
  5. Moves tools and parts as needed and required.
  6. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  7. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  8. Maintains highest standards of quality and quantity.
  9. Records accurate information as required to fulfill tasks.
  10. Participates in Kaizen events when possible.
  11. Handles hazardous materials and waste.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor or manager, in addition to the essential functions listed above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  1. Ability to use and understand simple and more complex measuring tools.
  2. Ability to perform basic bench work.
  3. Perform advanced math if required.
  4. Read and write well enough to understand planning, reports, and to record required information into company systems.
  5. Ability to use a PC to record required information and prepare required reports using Microsoft Office software and company systems.
  6. Knowledge of basic statistical concepts.
  7. Knowledge in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) preferred but not required.
  8. Ability to interpret engineering drawings with geometric dimension and tolerance (GD&T) Y14.5 standards.
  9. Ability to interpret layout specifications necessary to troubleshoot portable CMM.
  10. Knowledge of advanced inspection and quality control principles.
  11. Knowledge of Discus, Net-Inspect and Epicor software preferred but not required.
  12. Knowledge of CMM programming software is preferred but not required.

    • (pc-dmis, zeiss calypso, GOM, Power-inspect)


  13. Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.
  14. Ability to receive instructions and retain the required information.
  15. Ability to receive constructive criticism.
  16. Ability to communicate well with others.
  17. Must pass the vision exam at the acceptable level to perform inspection work.


Education and Experience



  1. High School Diploma or equivalent and some college is preferred.
  2. Five years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment is preferred.
  3. Experience in portable CMM is required.
  4. Experience using a PC and company systems.


Work Authorization

Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to access export-controlled technology.

Required Safety Training



  1. Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  2. Attend required safety and environmental training, as determined by the EH&S office.
  3. Each employee will receive training within 30 days from the date of hire regarding waste. Employee will not be allowed to work alone until they have successfully completed waste training. Documentation of training will be kept in the facility's EH&S files. Waste training will be provided annually.



General: Maintain personal productivity and quality standards as determined by supervision. Follow standard departmental/company practices and procedures as outlined by management. Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition.
