Plant Manager oversees all aspects of establishing and operating Bunge's new soy protein concentrate facility in Morristown, Indiana. This role is integral to the success of Bunge's new soy protein facility. The selected candidate will be a key player in bringing this project to fruition and ensuring its smooth transition into full operation.This includes:
- Daily Supervision and Career Development:Managing and mentoring plant employees, fostering their professional growth.
- Financial Management:Overseeing plant budgets and costs, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Productivity:Monitoring, analyzing, and continuously improving plant productivity and efficiency.
- Safety and Risk Management:Implementing and enforcing safety protocols, mitigating potential risks.
- Corporate Interaction:Liaising with various Bunge corporate departments, ensuring alignment and effective communication.
- Construction Support:Collaborating with construction teams, ensuring timely project completion.
- Staffing and Training:Recruiting, hiring, and training operational teams for the new facility.
- Start-up and Commissioning:Overseeing the start-up and commissioning of the plant, ensuring smooth transition to full operation.
- General Operations:Managing all other aspects related to the daily operations of a Bunge food manufacturing facility.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment consistent with regulatory and corporate guidelines.
- Responsible for environmental compliance for the facility
- Establish controls and procedures that ensure ongoing compliance and a positive relationship with local, state and federal agencies.
- Ensure that a plant culture focused on safety, efficiency, accountability, and customer awareness exists and is nurtured at the plant.
- Responsible for the staffing and maintenance of good employee relations in the facility
- Nurture a plant working environment that encourages employee involvement in the consistent improvement of plant processes, striving for optimal costs and efficiencies
- Hire and develop a competent, efficient and motivated management team while providing adequate opportunity for individual career development.
- Organize staff, establish procedures and utilize resources to consistently meet or exceed corporate quality standards and customer expectations.
- Work with the local and corporate commercial and administrative groups to establish short and long-term operating objectives
- Prepare and implement plans to improve the productivity and efficiency of the facility's operations, including development of capital expenditure plans and operating budgets
- Develop location long range plans and short-term objectives to meet plant growth and efficiency goals.
- Evaluate operations and take appropriate action to ensure cost objectives and key performance indicator targets are met.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of daily and monthly production reports and verify their completeness and accuracy
- Establish controls and procedures that ensure ongoing compliance and a positive relationship with local, state and federal agencies.
- Provide for the protection of company assets through sound administrative and operations risk management controls.
- Support the construction team through coordinating commissioning activities with them and answering technical questions.
- Lead the new facility in the transition from construction through operation. This will require executing activities through your teams such as completing Factory Acceptance Testing, verifying field installations match designs, completing Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, Head-to-Tail and interlock testing, establishing maintenance and Food Safety/Quality programs, commissioning of equipment/systems, and coordinating start-up.

Skills/Experience:
- Education:A Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field is essential. An MBA is a plus, suggesting a preference for candidates with business acumen in addition to technical expertise.
- Experience:A minimum of 10 years of experience is required, with at least 5 years in plant operations management within the oilseed processing, edible oil, or soy protein industry. Experience with extrusion and ready-to-eat food manufacturing processes is also necessary, aligning with the plant's focus on soy protein concentrate and textured soy protein concentrate for food applications. Capital project construction and start-up experience is also mandatory.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Familiarity with SAP is strongly preferred, hinting at Bunge's likely use of this enterprise resource planning software. Strong financial and business acumen is also emphasized, as managing budgets and meeting plant productivity targets will be critical aspects of the role.
- Work Ethic and Availability:The position requires a self-directed individual with a high level of initiative and the ability to prioritize effectively. The selected candidate must be prepared to work an average of 50 hours per week and be available during critical business situations.
