HJF is seeking a Quality Control Analyst I. The Quality Analyst Control Analyst is responsible for data extraction, analysis, and reporting to ensure compliance and quality standards for the Diagnostics and Countermeasures Branch (DCB) within the Center of Infectious Disease Research (CIDR) at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). The role involves collaborating with Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and DCB's Information Technology (IT) teams, as well as laboratory staff, to ensure all data and documentation meet regulatory standards from accrediting bodies like the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Department of Defense (DoD) Clinical Laboratory Improvement Program (CLIP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP), and the U.S. FDA. This position focuses on leveraging data analytics to monitor, report, and improve quality metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Quality Group and DCB's IT Group to extract and analyze quality-related data from systems like MasterControl or LabWare to produce accurate and timely Quality Reports for the Senior Project Manager - QI, Quality Assurance Manager and DCB Leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and to meet DCB's internal quality needs.
  • Analyzes and generates reports to show laboratory and quality control data to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies, providing insights that support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Works with the Quality Group to define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and compliance, using data to track progress, identify risks, highlight areas for improvement and recommendations.
  • Prepares and analyzes quality data to support bi-annual CAP inspections, including generating summaries and visualizations that illustrate DCB's compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develops and manages data-driven quality metrics, conducting analysis based on the data and generating reports for the Senior Project Manager - QI and QA Manager to ensure meeting regulatory compliance and DCB requirements.
  • Helps to create guidelines and SOPs for consistent data handling and quality data reporting best practices.
  • Provides timely notifications and monthly (or as needed basis) reports to DCB Leadership and Group Leads, summarizing significant data findings, trends, gaps, and recommendations.
  • Assists the Quality Group in analyzing, monitoring, and trending the data-driven insights, and generating detailed audit reports to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Tracks CLSI and other regulatory standards, updating quality records and training materials to reflect the latest guidelines and ensuring data practices align with regulatory requirements.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, with a focus on data analytics and quality metrics to support continuous improvement within DCB.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in life science or related degree.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets, identify trends, and effectively communicate findings.
  • Data management experience.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and quality systems tools or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis, is required. Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, FDA, and GCLP regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $50,100 - $55,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
