HJF is seeking a Senior Clinical Research Associate to monitor the execution of clinical trials associated with specific projects and ensure that all necessary steps are taken towards safety provisions and all regulations are adhered to.

This position will be in support of the Vascular Service in Department of Surgery at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), located on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. The specific interest of the study is the development of improved hemodialysis machines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all study activities across collaborating sites.
  • Collects, organizes, catalogs, disseminates, and maintains appropriate files of current data. Maintains weekly/monthly status reports.
  • Ensures that regulatory documents are maintained and are up to date.
  • Experience with IACUC protocols with the ability to submit, edit, and modify protocols.
  • Assists research team to identify problems in the research design or analysis methodology and trends in treatment.
  • Acts as a liaison between staff and physicians.
  • Prepares and maintains manual and computerized data according to prescribed standards.
  • Assists with monitoring audits/visits for protocols. Travels from their assigned workplace to support protocols at other sites as needed.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline required.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be familiar with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee activities.
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of medical specialties.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable federal and military regulations regarding the use of animal subjects in research.
  • Must be able to set and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with individuals of all levels.
  • Specialized animal training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Background Check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office, clinic, laboratory, or hospital setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $88,600-$100,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
