Title: Data Insights Analyst - P3

Location: Remote USA

Reports To: Director - Data Insights

The Role:

As part of the Valuation Services division of J.D. Power, you will work to understand what factors contribute to used values of vehicles and their residual values over time. This role is responsible for supporting the used vehicle value output of JD Power's Used Car Guide products and the residual value output of JD Power/ALG residual value products. Responsibilities include analyzing vehicle data provided by OEMs and third-party sources to evaluate vehicle builds and audit used vehicle and residual values. Your expertise in deriving insights from data, formulating data-driven stories and using good judgement in selecting appropriate methods and techniques for analysis will greatly enhance our Valuation Insights team with perspectives about the industry, products, vehicle lifecycle, content developments, and trends. A background in the automotive space is desirable, but not required.

The Impact You Will Have in This Role:

The Valuation Insights team is responsible for the used & residual valuation of vehicles in the US market. Banks, Dealers, Insurance and Fleet companies use our guidance to support the buying and selling of used vehicles.

What You'll Be Doing in This Role:



  • Handling data preparation tasks independently.
  • Conducting basic and intermediate statistical analysis and generating correlations.
  • Building visualizations using Tableau, Excel, and Python.
  • Interpreting data insights and correlations for actionable recommendations.
  • Applying fundamental data-driven storytelling techniques.
  • Collaborating with team members to analyze and solve data-driven problems.
  • Communicating data insights to stakeholders with guidance.
  • Coordinate production deliverables and deadlines with internal teams.
  • Actively participate and lead internal and external meetings related to data insights.
  • Communicate and build relationships with clients.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Data Science team and other key functions to ensure.
  • Latest analytics are incorporated in output and continuously improve production processes.



Qualifications of this Role:



  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a data analyst, automotive industry experience a plus, including knowledge of makes, models, segments, performance, lifecycle trends, automotive technology and content - and factors that impact resale values.
  • Proficiency in data preparation, basic statistics, correlation and regression concepts
  • Mastery of SQL for data manipulation.
  • Familiarity of Tableau and Excel for visualization tasks.
  • Understanding of data-driven storytelling techniques and their application.
  • Knowledge of Palantir Data Analyst for analysis tasks will be a definite plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Computer Science or similar field
  • Excellent critical thinking, data analysis and communication (written and verbal) skills necessary.
  • Must be a proactive problem solver and able to handle complex projects and tasks.
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
