Manager in Training

Description

An MIT is a member of the management team. As a member of management, an MIT will be expected to deliver results, provide excellent internal/external customer service, and drive execution and performance. Under the supervision of the Manager, the MIT will maintain an engaged, productive team through strong leadership, demonstrating initiative and leading by example.

The MIT is responsible for supporting the Manager in the overall operations to include:

* Overall management, supervision, and policy implementation

* Employee staffing, training, and development

* Inventory management, Support Services and Order Fulfillment

MITs are also responsible for completing operations and management skills training, and learning about key aspects of the business and workplace culture. MITs must maintain satisfactory performance and must demonstrate consistent progression through the training program in order to remain in the role and be considered for management openings.

Essential Job Functions:

• Shadow department manager beginning with receipt of product at trailer entry and ending with the sealing of trailers going to customer.
• Responsible for learning the general functions of all inbound and outbound roles including receiving, replenishment, slotting, waving (from WMS), picking, processing, and shipping.
• Monitor best methods for inbound and outbound functions while maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and reporting observed discrepancies.
• Ensure safety and housekeeping guidelines are followed.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to manage, communicate, and motivate effectively.
• Detailed knowledge of WMS.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
• Ability to have difficult conversations and provide corrective action with employees as needed
• Understanding of inbound and outbound warehouse systems and their relation to each other
• Good management and planning skills to meet peak season demand.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve problems quickly.
• Ability to positively adapt to change

Selection for the MIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Manager position. Whether and when an MIT is actually promoted to management is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to performance and availability of management openings.
