Job Summary

The Library Marketing & Outreach Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Scholarly Communications & Research Library Faculty member to develop sustainable library marketing and outreach materials that meet Georgia Southern University and the University Libraries' marketing and branding standards. This position supports the strategic initiatives and communications of the University Libraries, the future Research and Creative Commons at Henderson Library, as well as the University Libraries' outreach activities. Work schedule based on the needs of the University Libraries' Assessment & Research Unit.

Responsibilities
  • Works on a wide range of marketing and outreach projects and media, using various industry-standard design and publishing software to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs for the libraries
  • Serves on the University Libraries Data Visualization Team (DVT)
  • Advises library faculty and staff on industry design standards that align with Georgia Southern University marketing guidelines and standards
  • Assists with face-to-face outreach efforts, e.g. event planning, participation, and photography
  • Uses Springshare products for creating guides, recording statistics, and scheduling when needed
  • Assists in the creation and posting of engaging library social media content.
  • Creates both print and digital wayfinding, promotional, and other signage for the University Libraries
  • Serves as the permanent recorder for the Student Outreach Committee, the Communications and Marketing Committee, and the Data Visualization Team at the Libraries.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field (e.g., Graphic Design, Publishing, Marketing)

Required Experience
  • Experience in graphic design and copyediting
  • Working experience with graphic design platforms (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in an academic library or higher-education setting
  • Data visualization experience
  • Professional experience with publishing and editorial services


Proposed Salary

$19.15 - $23.97 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis

ABILITIES
  • Consistently exhibit engaging customer service

  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
  • Ability to adapt to change, and to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain abreast of marketing and social media trends.
  • Willingness to learn about academic library practices and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
  • Documented proficiency in graphic design (platforms: e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and copyediting.

SKILLS
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively within and outside of the Libraries.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing and editing for print and web publication.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
