Multimodal Planner

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's growing Raleigh, NC team is looking for a Multimodal Planner to join us. We are open to entry level or early career experience for this role. The selected candidate will support the development of multimodal safety plans and other multimodal plans. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of traffic safety for all roadway users, transportation planning for pedestrians and bicyclists, and conducting data analysis.

Responsibilities

Employ an increasing knowledge and experience in a variety of topics, such as using safety data, public health, and pedestrian and bicyclist transportation.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team to conduct public engagement and develop solutions for all modes of transportation.
• Support project managers and other planners in the development of reports, presentations and other deliverables.

Skills and Attributes

• The ability to work independently and on multiple projects
• Ability to apply data and statistics to safety and planning projects
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Eagerness to learn about best practices for multimodal safety and pedestrian/bicycle transportation
• Enthusiasm about multimodal transportation and roadway safety
• Understanding of national guidelines and best practices for multimodal design and pedestrian/bicycle countermeasure selection

Qualifications

• 0-1 year of experience in transportation planning or traffic safety required
• 1-3 years of experience in transportation planning or traffic safety preferred
• Bachelors in Planning, Public Policy, Civil Engineering, Public Health or related field
• Masters degree in Planning, Public Policy, Public Health or related field is preferred, but not required
