IT Data Internship 2025

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive intern to join our IT Project Management Office (PMO) for Summer 2025! This internship will offer hands-on experience in project management, reporting, and administrative support for IT projects, along with exposure to industry-standard project management methodologies and tools.

Location, Schedule, & Compensation:

In-office/non-remote

Maryville, TN

40 hours per week

Monday-Friday

Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to IT, Business Administration, or Project Management.
• Strong academic record and a passion for technology and project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gather, consolidate, review, and distribute project reports.
• Assist in tracking tasks, deadlines, and deliverables for assigned IT projects.
• Schedule project meetings and document minutes, action items, and follow-ups.
• Ensure timely communication and completion of action items and deliverables.
• Participate in project planning sessions and understand the project lifecycle.
• Review and resolve IT tickets as part of exposure to IT operations.
• Provide support for conference room technology, ensuring smooth execution of meetings.
• Assist with audit requests, contributing to the compliance and governance processes.

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Physical Demands:

• Works in an office environment.
• Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

• Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or QLIK and query languages.

• Knowledge of SQL Database and/or other RDBMS or Columnar databases.
• Familiarity with data visualization.
• The intern will work closely with senior managers and top collaborators within the Analytics group.
• The role may involve attending meetings with various stakeholders and contributing to high-impact projects.
• Hands-on experience with Analytics and collaboration tools.
• Mentorship from experienced managers and IT professionals.
• Involvement in cross-functional teams to gain a holistic understanding of IT Analytics processes.

Professional Development:

• Potential to transition into a full-time Junior Analyst role upon successful completion of the internship.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required: Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are required when on the manufacturing floor. The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
