Job Summary

Manger of Sourcing is responsible for managing a professional procurement/sourcing staff to ensure cost-effective and quality acquisition of materials, equipment, and services to support business unit operations while meeting department goals and objectives.

Broad areas of responsibility include, but not limited to:

  • Manage team of procurement/sourcing professionals

  • Ensure materials, services and equipment are purchased in a cost-effective manner while meeting quality requirements and within need dates

  • Manage purchasing functions to ensure compliance with applicable company purchasing policies, business partner requirements, state and federal regulations and guidelines

  • Oversee all facets of day-to-day work team performs and serve as primary escalation point for operations and support

  • Implement and maintain processes, policies, technologies, and techniques necessary to ensure ongoing successful operations

  • Monitor and measure quality of work, effectiveness and efficiency of the processes and develop meaningful measures and performance indicators

  • Take appropriate actions necessary to ensure a quality of work product, process compliance, continual performance improvement, and maximized productivity

  • Maintains effective working relationships, manage issues with internal business unit partners and external suppliers and elevate issues when necessary

  • Ensure a productive staff through effective performance management

  • Recruit effectively, develop, train, and support new and existing staff

  • Provide frequent and fair feedback to employees regarding expectations and performance through recognition, coaching, etc.

  • Support team development

  • Align work efforts with corporate and departmental objectives

Basic/Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline

  • Two (2) years related work experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or other related discipline and six (6)+ years related work experience

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration and five (5)+ years related work experience

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

  • Previous Supply Chain supervisory/management experience

  • Experience in managing a diverse workforce

  • Working knowledge of procurement/sourcing, inventory, and business unit operations

  • Excellent problem solving, business acumen, interpersonal and analytical skills, and customer service skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Self-directed with willingness and ability to see gaps and develop and implement solutions to fill those gaps

  • Ability to motivate team members at multiple levels and lead others through change

  • Strong negotiating skills with ability to influence

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Maximo experience

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both onsite and remote locations after the onboarding period. Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the assigned Duke Energy Facility.

  • Assigned work location is Duke Energy Plaza, Charlotte NC with onsite 3 days per week and when required and directed by their manager

  • Position will include after hours and weekend support

  • Normal office environment with occasional travel to other sites, supplier facilities and industry meetings
