Director of Child Care Center

Position Overview: Hand In Hand Child Care Center on the Concordia University campus, St. Paul, Minnesota, is looking to hire a full-time Director of the Child Care Center. Birth to Grade 3 licensure or a Graduate Degree in Early Childhood preferred Healthcare benefits and University education benefits are part of the employment package.

Essential Duties:



  • Minimum 40 hours per week (salaried position)


  • Maintain teaching license or other credential requirements


  • Follow current childcare regulations as presented in the Department of Human

    Services, Statute 9503, (Rule 3)



    • Maintain licensing regulations, forms, & files (student & staff)


    • Complete required in-service training each year


    • Complete first aid/CPR training every two (2) years



  • Hold responsibility for all administrative aspects of the center, including orienting, training, supervising, coaching, & evaluating all staff & student workers; creating staffing schedules; collaborating with the academic advisor to supervise & support practicum students; observing & evaluating classroom teaching to ensure alignment with developmentally appropriate practices; upholding a Christian learning environment for young children & families
  • Hold responsibility for the fiscal aspects of the center, including: maximizing the center's enrollment; preparing and overseeing the budget; submitting business office reports; ordering & purchasing materials & supplies; supervising the cleaning & maintenance of the center
  • Hold responsibility for ongoing & open communication with staff & families including: promoting a collaborative atmosphere among all staff; mediating staff concerns and conflicts; addressing family concerns; publishing & reviewing staff handbook and program plan; conducting pre-admission conferences with families; conducting annual conferences with families; sending out newsletters and other important information
  • Represent the program through the Leadership/Fiscal Supervisor, Academic Advisor, and the Provost; Chief Operating Officer



Education & Experience:



  • 21 years of age or older


  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree


  • Birth to Grade 3 licensure or a Graduate Degree in Early Childhood: Preferred


  • Minimum five (5) years of early childhood experience: Required


  • Experience teaching at a Christian childcare center or school: Preferred
